Blended Praise Worship Service

Starting Sunday, September 12 - New Worship Schedule

  • 8:15 – 9:00 AM – Breakfast Bar in the Fellowship Hall
  • 8:30 – 9:20 AM – "TRADITIONAL PRAISE" Worship (children may exit at 9:00 am for age appropriate Sunday School classes)
  • 9:00 – 10:00 AM – Sunday School groups for children & adults
  • 9:20 – 10:00 AM – An additional Adult Bible Class for parents/adults attending the 8:30 "Traditional Praise" Service
  • 10:15 AM – "BLENDED PRAISE" Worship

Whichever of the two worship services you attend each Sunday, we trust that you will sense our sincere excitement about Jesus Christ and what He is doing in and through us. Our prayer is that you can freely join with us in the worship of God through these worship formats:

  • The 8:30 TRADITIONAL PRAISE – This service uses predominantly traditional hymn tunes, primarily organ-led. Traditional liturgical settings from Lutheran hymnals with occasional use of other traditional liturgies will be utilized. The service will be printed out in an easy-to-follow folder. The presiding minister wears traditional vestments. Communion is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.
  • The 10:15 BLENDED PRAISE – Our current 10:00 am worship service – a blending of older and newer songs and hymns with the use of a variety of musical instruments. There is a blending of traditional and contemporary formats and presentations as well. Communion is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.
  • Sunday, September 12 is Back to Church Sunday

"73% OF PEOPLE WHO DON'T ATTEND CHURCH WERE NEVER INVITED" – Barna Research Group

We will have a special service on this Sunday dedicated to people who do not regularly attend church. It is a time when those who have left the church are encouraged to return and give it another try. Stay tuned for more information on upcoming Sundays. In the meantime, be thinking and praying about neighbors, friends and loved ones that you can invite back to church.

Dinner for 8 is Back for Seconds

Dinner for Eight returns this fall, offering a great way to make new friends, reconnect with others and gather around the table with friends of Trinity for a great meal. Couples and singles, plan to join us September 2010-March 2011, and create lasting relationships with other Trinity friends in small groups at a host's home.

This is how it works: The host couple provides the main dish and beverages -- guests bring the rest to make a wonderful dining experience. You host one time and are guests for the remainder of the meals. Participants will rotate so you will dine with different people each month.

Activities include a D48 Kick-Off Mixer set for Saturday, September 11, at 5:00 pm to meet those who will be participating. Hosted dinners occurring in October, November, January, and February.

Here's what some of the participants like about Dinner for Eight:

…meeting new people beyond just a "hello" on Sunday morning.
…making new friends; and making better friendships with long-time acquaintances
…gathering together around a table for a delicious meal and good conversation... there was a real sense of community

Watch for more information and a sign-up form in your bulletin next Sunday.

    Ministry Opportunities

DID YOU KNOW...that we have a ministry to homebound members that involves delivering CD’s of our worship services and worship announcements on your own time during the week? We could use your help in this! Contact Pastor Menke for more information.

YARED WOLDE FUND...Thanks so very much to those who’ve made donations and pledges to support Yared in our goal of providing him an education. We (Pastor Jim and Alden Smith) met this week to consider how realistic it will be financially to bring Yared to America. While we are still hoping for some more pledges to come in, we determined that with your support and the support of others, we believe that, by the grace of God, it will be possible. Oddly enough, we anticipate the cost of brining Yared to go down slightly once he has finished his two years of study at MCC, which will enable him, Lord willing, to be accepted to Baylor. Our offerings for Sunday School will be used for Yared Wolde. Thank you in advance for contributing.

Starting September 12, with the new service, Trinity's Worship Arts ministry will need additional volunteers to help make our services happen. If you can assist in any of these areas, please contact the appropriate coordinator.

    • Scripture Readers: Worshippers to read the designated scriptures approximately once every 4-6 weeks. Advance copies of the readings will be emailed to you by the Saturday before you read. Please indicate your preferred service (8:00 am or 10:15 am). Contact Mike LiBassi
    • Actors: More dramas will be incorporated into the worship services (especially during Advent and Lent). Actors are needed to perform in a variety of roles throughout the church year. All ages are welcome. Contact Mike LiBassi
    • A/V Techs: Help produce and run audio/visual portions of the worship service. Are you Mac literate? Do you learn new software quickly? An exciting new program will be used during the 10:15 am service. Training will be provided, as needed. Contact Mike Abel
    • Musicians: If you have a musical talent and a desire to use it – we most likely have a way to use it! Please contact Joe Gastler
    • Ushers: If you have a desire to help in this ministry on Sunday mornings by passing out bulletins or finding seats for worshippers, let one of our Sunday ushers know.
    • Altar Guild: With two worship services alternating communion every other week, we need more volunteers to help prepare the elements. Please contact Sue Strakos or Teresa Shaw
    • There are many other areas in which to volunteer – Children's Church, Visual Arts, Technical Arts, Handbells – just to name a few! If you have a desire to help in any area of Trinity's Worship Arts ministry, please ask Joe Gastler, our ministry director.
    • Needed Every Sunday, volunteers to help with setting up breakfasts. Get a friend to help, enlist your family or small group. It is an easy and fun way of ministry to those that come in early for breakfast. Contact Carol Trantham at 848-4556

    Children's Ministry

    • If you have a “heart” for helping children grow in the love, life and Word of God in Christ, please contact Karen Menke or call Karen at 254-655-4173. Thanks for being willing to serve.
    • Trinity has a nursery for the little ones with a paid staff person, Shelly Gray working in the nursery every Sunday. Trinity is growing to the point that we need to have volunteers on-call to work with Shelly if we get more than several children in the nursery. With enough volunteers, the number of Sundays we each serve will be fewer. We have enough volunteers for three months now, but would like to add new names to the list. If you have a heart for the little ones and want to help their parents be able to worship, please email Karen Menke or call her at 254-655-4173. Thanks very much for serving for a fuller heaven!
    • Sunday School Classes:
      NURSERY – Infant to 2 years – Room 110
      3-4-5 year olds – Room 109
      Grades 1-2 – Room 114

      Grades 5-6 – Room 206

    Take Time to Pray

Prayers are offered for all those leading and attending Sunday School and worship service including pastor and staff, teachers, the Praise Team, musicians, members, visitors and any special events planned that day/week. We also pray for any individual needs that are brought to our attention. If you have a prayer request for Sunday morning, please send it to Barbara Cude or Karen LiBassi.

    Scholarship Fund

DID YOU KNOW that we have a Scholarship Fund established for college and post-graduate students who are preparing for full-time service as church workers in our Lutheran churches and schools?

Joe Gastler is concluding his colloquy education program through Concordia University, Austin, to be certified as a Director of Parish Music in our Synod. Harry Smith has been accepted to attend Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, this fall in preparation for Pastoral Ministry. And Elizabeth Callahan plans to attend Concordia University, Austin, this fall in the Director of Christian Education/Nursing program.

You know that the cost for such an education is very costly these days. If you’d like to support our students preparing for full-time work in Christ’s church, you can write a check made out to Trinity and designate it as “Scholarship Fund.” Thank you!
